Seeing Art on Holiday

If you're out and about in foreign climes and you're unsure of what to do, there's always going to be some form of art, or artistic inspiration all around you. Artists are great travellers, as are art lovers, because of the proliferation of galleries, museums and alien landscapes you will encounter during your time spent on the road. So what should you look out for when planning your time abroad? 1) Galleries.
This goes almost without saying - galleries are going to be the home of local art in the area. From sculpture to watercolours, everyone can come and appreciate the work of those who work with local galleries to present their pieces to the public. Whether you're a painter with an interest in how others make their art or a holidaying PartyPoker site pro with a bit of cash to spend on some foreign art, it's the perfect destination.

2) Museums.
At first, you wouldn't think so, but when you consider how many tapestries, sculptures and old paintings reside within museums, it's easy to see why people who like art gravitate towards these places. It's rare for a tourism-friendly region not to have any form of museum at all, so if there are a few locally, head on down and check them out!

3) The landscape.
Bridget Riley, a renown painter, once said that for her, "nature is not landscape, but the dynamism of visual forces." The landscape can be a powerful source of artistic inspiration, and even if you are not one who traditionally takes their spark from the natural world around them, you might just find that this is the first time you will.

Going on holiday can be a profound experience, both for those who make art, and those who just admire it. These are but a few pieces of advice. The best tutelage in art and travel comes from the experience of venturing out into the world and discovering new art, whether or not it comes from within, for yourself.
